HAWLEY — On Nov. 8, with a beautiful setting on Lake Wallenpaupack, the United Way hosted its fourth annual Chefs United Dinner at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Restaurant. Nineteen restaurants from Pike County took part providing an array of food for more than 200 guests on hand. The evening commenced with mingling over appetizers and a cash bar. Dinner followed after short welcoming speeches by United Way board members Bob Kiesendahl and Tom Regenski, and President, Christine Obser. “The United Way is grateful to everyone who helped make this night possible. We thank everyone who came out to show their support.” said Obser. One of the guests in attendance, Jennifer Hoffman, spoke about Pike County’s “Communities That Care After School Program.” She gave a short presentation on how the after school program has helped her become more aware of all the community service initiatives in the county, and how the program really reaches out to the community. “Jennifer was one example of someone who directly benefits from monies raised by the United Way.” Obser said. Guests were then welcome to help themselves to culinary delights brought by the following restaurants: Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Resort, The Inn at Woodloch, The Boat House, Gresham’s Chop House, Angelo’s Bakery, The Summit Restaurant & Grill Room, Crazy Fingers, Falls Port Inn and Steak House, Lake Wallenpaupack Café & Restaurant, Mugg’s Country Kitchen, Hotel Fauchere, Peter’s Café, The Settlers Inn, Mike’s Pizzeria, Woodloch Bakery, Just Add Sugar Café, Penny Lane Candies & Candles, and the Muir House. Obser extended thanks to all the restaurants who participated in the event. The United Way added special thanks the Ehrhardt Family for hosting the dinner. “They are truly a pleasure to work with. We had a great time putting this event together, and I look forward to working with them in the future.” said Cathy Capasso of the United Way. The Chefs United Dinner raised close to $12,000 for the United Way of Pike County, and the United Way. With a goal of $175,000.00, the United Way hopes to give back even more to the community.
