Pike grassroots visit DINGMAN n Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff visited a Dingman Township Fire Department pancake breakfast during his recent visit and dined with Fire Chief Bill Mikulak. “We talked about local problems and the need for more funding,” Mikulak told township supervisors last week. “I showed him our new ‘Mass Casualty Trailer’ and he asked me what we had in it. I told him nothing because we needed money to stock it and all Chertoff remarked was ‘Oh.’” Pike County Chamber of Commerce donated $1000 and Wayne Bank of Wayne County made a $50 donation to help stock the new mass casualty trailer. Supervisors Chairman Tom Mincer thanked both of them and said, “Every $50 helps.” Dingman firefighters are seeking donations to help fill the trailer with needed supplies. Mikulak reported that there were 33 fire calls, 8 motor vehicle accidents and seven construction fires last month.”
