Westfall Township police say a New York man avoided serious injury in a car/truck collision on U.S. Routes 6/209, at 3 p.m. on May 10. Calvin Stocks, 19, of Slate Hill, N.Y., told rescue personnel that he had fallen asleep and veered his SUV into the center lane where he collided with the 18 wheeler driven by George Rice, 59, of Scranton. Rice attempted to get out of the way but Stocks hit the truck’s tires. Stocks was taken to hospital with minor injuries. He was on his way home from college. Rice was not injured.
