SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Delaware Valley High School alumnus Ryan Balton, class of 2007, received the CitrusTV 2008 Tech Award at Syracuse University. CitrusTV is the nation’s oldest and largest student-run TV station. Balton was among dozens of students who serve technical positions each week on CitrusTV News, which airs across the SU campus each night Monday through Friday. This semester, he works on three shows a week as an editor, photographer, tape operator and technical director, an extensive combination for a first-year student that the news producers presenting the award praised at the CitrusTV banquet on April 5. Balton is an undeclared major at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Aside from CitrusTV, he also is a camera operator for the Orange Television Network, computer consultant at the university library, staff writer for The Daily Orange, and volunteer for a mentoring/tutoring program in the Syracuse City School District. CitrusTV is online at www.citrustv.net.
