Congressman pays visit to Delaware Valley

Preparing for November’s general election, Rep. Chris Carney (D-PA-10) on Tuesday visited Delaware Valley High School to appeal to an increasingly important constituency — youth. The incumbent has served his first two-year term in the House of Representatives, and is seeking re-election over opponent Chris Hackett this fall. The school invited Carney to speak to interested students about his platform and experiences. Carney hosted a question and answer session around noon, as well as an informational session at the end of the school day. At least four classes packed the high school’s media center to query Carney about his stance on the environment, fuel prices, same-sex marriage, the practices of lobbyists and the Patriot Act, among other contemporary issues. According to guidance counselor Jay Tucker, no U.S. Congressman has visited DVHS in the 25 years he has been a staff member. (Photo by Kathryn Braisted)
