child molester sentenced MILFORD — Pike County District Attorney Ray Tonkin last week announced that Larry Lamar Oglesby, 43, formerly from Greentown, was sentenced to 26 years to 52 years of incarceration for the charges of Rape of a Child, Aggravated Indecent Assault and Indecent Assault. The sentencing was on Jan. 24 in the Pike County Court of Common Pleas in Milford. The Pennsylvania State Police charged Oglesby last January for his acts against three different juvenile victims. Oglesby pled guilty to the charges in August of last year. Before the sentencing, President Judge Joseph Kameen also found Oglesby to be a sexually violent predator under Pennsylvania’s version of Meghan’s Law. First Assistant District Attorney, Bruce DeSarro, who prosecuted the case, stated that the Oglesby’s crimes came to light because of three courageous young people who came forward and disclosed to the police what had happened to them. DeSarro stated the community owes a great debt to the victims because not only did the victims’ disclosure lead to Oglesby’s conviction but also led to the conviction of another sexually violent predator. DeSarro explained that one of the Oglesby victims caused the victim of another man to come forward leading to that man’s conviction for molestation charges and a sexual predator designation last year. During the sentencing hearing, Judge Kameen stated the he found not only the crimes shocking, but also found Oglesby’s lack of remorse as equally shocking. DeSarro stated that since Oglesby’s arrest last January he has been incarcerated at the Pike County Correctional Facility but that he will be serving the remainder of his sentence in state prison.
