Milford — For the 2009 holiday season, the Milford Business Council will distribute 2,500 copies of a “3/50 Project” Holiday Shopping Coupon Booklet, to encourage Pike County residents to shop local. The booklet contains discount coupons from 28 different Milford area businesses, as well as a comprehensive calendar of holiday events. The 3/50 project relies on a simple message: “Pick 3. Spend 50. Save your local economy.” • Pick three locally owned Milford businesses you’d hate to see disappear. • Spend $50 per month in these Milford businesses. • For every $100 spent in locally owned Milford businesses, $68 returns to the local community. When spent in a big box, chain, or franchise, $43 remains. Purchases made online return nothing. Free copies of the 3/50 Project Holiday Shopping Coupon Booklet will be available from participating Milford stores starting Nov. 23. For everyone’s shopping convenience, most Milford shops will be open till 8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays the four weekends before Christmas: Nov. 27-28, Dec. 4-5, 11-12, and 18-19.
