Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus has announced that the Orange County Youth Bureau (OCYB) is seeking applications for New York State’s new Youth Team Sports (YTS) grant program.

The Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) will fund awards of approximately $219,000 to eligible, local, community-based organizations and nonprofits. Funding is available in grants ranging from $5,000 to $50,000 per request. These grants will provide opportunities for youth under 18 years of age, in under-resourced communities, to learn and participate in team sports activities.

Those eligible for this funding include not-for-profits (secular and faith-based organizations), partnerships, or consortia operating throughout the county. Organizations that have never received funding through the OCYB are also encouraged to apply in this request for proposal (RFP).

Proposals are available under the “Funding and Forms” tab on the OCYB website at orangecountygov.com/youthbureau and are also available on the Empire State Bid System at empirestatebidsystem.com.

The Orange County Department of General Services (OCDGS) is the point of contact for applications during the submission process until the start of the proposal review process. Inquiries about the RFP should be directed in writing to generalservices@orangecountygov.com or faxed to 845-378-2365. Answers will be compiled and posted in one addendum.

Proposals are due by 4 p.m. Aug. 27. Competitive awards will be announced Oct. 4 (tentative). The anticipated contract start is Oct. 4, 2024, and end date is Sept. 30, 2025.
