Pike County Commissioners declare Saturday, Sept. 9, as Sixth Annual Day of Caring MILFORD - The Pike County Commissioners have issued a proclamation to Pike United Way to celebrate the upcoming Sixth Annual Day of Caring on Saturday, Sept. 9. Moving from just a good idea to a lively Pike County tradition in only six years, the annual Day of Caring turns out 225 volunteers each year. Their simple act of giving one day of help to the community on the second Saturday of September each year will produce a six year total of more than 7,200 hours of free labor at an estimated cash value of more than $65,000 by the end of the day on September 9. This outpouring of community spirit has helped countless families and organizations to a better life. If you are 14 years old, or older, and would like to join as a Pike United Way Day of Caring volunteer, call toll free at 888-306-6963, or email uwpc@ptd.net or visit their website at www.unitedwaypike.org. or find us at www.pikepahelp.org .
