Cub Scouts' annual dinner
MILFORD - Cub Scout Pack 71 held their Blue and Gold Banquet on March 25 at the Fellowship Hall of the Milford First Presbyterian Church, the pack’s charter organization. Each year, the Blue and Gold Banquet is held to celebrate the founding of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910 and Cub Scouting in 1930. Family and friends of Pack 71 were in attendance to witness the presentation of many awards to individual Cub Scouts. The Arrow of Light Award, the highest rank in Cub Scouting and the only Cub Scout badge that may be worn on the Boy Scout uniform, was presented to Benjamin Cunningham, Daniel Reno, and Grant Meyers Larsen during a candle lighting ceremony given by Cubmaster Dave Repenning. Several Boy Scouts from Troop 77, along with their Troopmaster Bill Nied, assisted with the ceremony. Both Cunningham and Reno crossed over a special wooden bridge, symbolizing their transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. Myers Larsen will be crossing over to Troop 59 in June when he completes the 4th grade. Due to the generosity of many local businesses and special Cub Scout family dishes, a potluck feast of Cub Scout favorites was served up and enjoyed by all. Pack 71 meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at the First Presbyterian Church in Milford. For more information, call Dave Repenning at 570-296-7123.
