MILFORD n With the threat of a large thunderstorm hovering over Milford Township, the Cub Scouts of Pack 71 held their Advancement (Cross Over) Ceremony on June 19th at Pike County Park. Crossing Over Ceremonies are traditionally held as the scouts advance from one den to the next. Scouts literally crossed the bridge over the dam at Lily Pond to meet their Cubmaster Dave Repenning, Webelo Ray Pettenger, and several Leaders and scouts from Otisville Pack 169. Those participating included: Daniel Cammarota, Thomas Klee, Isaac Kuljanich, JJ Repenning, Brandon Valent, Louis Cino, Joey Loughney, and James Nathan. New members were welcomed including: Christopher Anderson, Liam Southard, and Sean Bolton. Upon reaching the other side, each was presented with a neckerchief, slide, and handbook of their new Dens. In celebration of the event, the scouts, together with their families, enjoyed a cookout, despite the darkening skies. In Cub Scouting, a boy begins the Cub Scout trail in the first grade, as a Tiger Scout. He then can advance, as he advances in age and grade, to the Wolf, Bear, and Webelos Dens, respectively. A boy doesn’t have to begin the trail as a Tiger Cub Scout. Any boy who would like to join scouting can join an age appropriate den as long as he is in the first to fifth grade. Those interested should contact Cubmaster Dave Repenning at 570-296-7123 for more information.
