Cub Scouts Step-Up'

MILFORD The bridge over the dam at Lily Pond, in Pike County Park, was the setting for the Step-Up Ceremony held by Milford Cub Scouts Pack 71 in June. This special ceremony is an acknowledgement of the transition from one rank of Cub Scouting to the next. The event began with Dave Repenning passing his title as Cubmaster to Jim Roach. Repenning, who has held the title of Cubmaster for the past four years, has moved on to continue the trail of scouting with his son, J.J., and Milford Boy Scouts Troop 71. Cubmaster Roach will continue the tradition. Roach is a husband and father of two. He holds a MBA in accounting, is self-employed as a business consultant, and is a Certified Green Consultant. His motto is “Make the World Safe and Clean, Go Green.” Roach is looking forward to his new title and has many new ideas for the Pack. The Step-Up Ceremony continued with each scout crossing over the bridge to be presented with the neckerchief for his next rank by his Cubmasters and Commissioners Ray Turse and Lisa Skinner, of the Hudson Valley Council. Each neckerchief depicts different colors symbolizing their corresponding rank. The Milford Cub Scouts are looking forward to several activities that have been planned over the summer months: Cub Scout Day Camp; Sky Hawks baseball game and camp out; and an overnight camp out on the Battleship New Jersey. All boys in the first through fifth grades are encouraged to join. Informational sessions to encourage membership are being planned for the fall. For further information, call Jim Roach, cubmaster, at 914-443-5414 or Liz Nathan, committee chairperson at 570-409-8351.
