Westfall - Two Delaware Valley High School students, Daniella Haigler and Courtney Waleck, recently had their original poems published in the 2006 anthology of poems entitled, “A Celebration of Young Poets.” Each year Creative Communications, a publisher and promoter of writing, teaching and poetry sponsors a poetry contest to recognize budding poets. Students submit poetry through their school and are judged on originality. Daniella Haigler, a Junior, submitted and was accepted for her poem, “A Requiem for a Lost Soul.” Daniella, who is the daughter of Cathy McGuire of Milford, is not only an accomplished poet, but she is also involved in tennis, track and field and Science Olympiad. Sophomore, Courtney Waleck, daughter of Kevin and Sue Waleck of Dingmans Ferry is also a published poet with the entry of her poem, “You and Only You.” Courtney is active at the high school and she is a Delaware Valley High School cheerleader. Both girls will receive free copies of the anthology in which their works are published.
