DINGMAN Reporting to the township supervisors on Jan. 8, Joe Cupcha of Pike EMS said his department responded to 893 emergency calls in 2007, some 150 fewer calls than in 2006. Dingman Township Fire Chief Bill Mikulak also reported a small decline in calls. The fire department responded to 263 calls in 2007 down from 279 in 2006. He added, “We had to go to one house in Conashaugh Lakes multiple times because the homeowner burned dinner six times.” Supervisors Chair Tom Mincer thanked both volunteer departments for the important job they do for the community. He noted that if paid emergency services were needed in place of the volunteers, taxes in the township would rise dramatically.
