Drop everything and read

WESTFALL - Students at Delaware Valley Elementary School have been celebrating the birthdays of beloved authors throughout this school year. Each month the reading teachers post an awesome bulletin board with information in celebration of a different author and students participate in a variety of ways in their classrooms. The whole school participates on one day each month in an activity called “Drop Everything and Read.” At various times throughout the day, no matter what they are doing, they drop everything and spend a little time reading a book by the month’s celebrated author. September’s famous author was Roald Dahl; for October they celebrated Shel Silverstein and R.L. Stine; November was Marc Brown; while December was Jan Brett and for January it was A.A. Milne. Next month’s author is still a surprise. Do you know any famous author’s who were born in March? Maybe you might want to try to guess. The students at school will soon know.
