DV to host preschool registration fair

DINGMAN — Most parents know spring is the time for kindergarten registration, but it is also the time to register your preschool child for a pre-kindergarten program. Choosing a quality preschool program for your child is an important decision. Children who attend quality pre-kindergarten are more likely to do well in school, attend college, and have higher earnings. Come to the DVSD Area Pre-K Registration Fair, March 25, 26 and 27 at the Dingman-Delaware Primary School, Dingmans Ferry, to learn about high quality programs in your community as well as those provided by the DVSD and it’s partners. Register for programs including Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts, Title I Preschool, Head Start, and Early Intervention, which are provided at no cost to families. Pennsylvania Pre-K Counts provides high quality pre-kindergarten education for 3 and 4 year olds, with a focus on children within at risk guidelines; Title I Preschool offers high quality pre-kindergarten for 4 year olds, with a focus on children at risk of academic failure; Head Start provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to low-income children and their families; Early Intervention serves children from birth to age five with disabilities/developmental delays. Early Intervention builds upon the natural learning occurring in a child’s early years and promotes collaboration among parents, service providers, early childhood educators and others involved in the child’s life. Families can also meet with the Family Transition Specialist to choose the program that’s right for their child, and with Child Care Information Services to receive referrals to local preschool and child care programs. An appointment is necessary for registration, and you will need to bring your child’s birth certificate, social security card, and proof of residency.
