Fire claims Westfall man

    WESTFALL - A fast moving fire in mobile home took the life of 71 year-old Jerry Newell on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters were called to the Green Acres Trailer Park shortly after 1 p.m.. Pike County Emergency Management Director Roger Maltby was one of the first to arrive. Maltby said one end of the Newell home was fully engulfed in flames and a thick column of smoke was evident. At the other end, three other firefighters, including Eric Lanberg, of Milford and Pike County Fire Coordinator Scott Gillette forced their way into the trailer and pulled out Newell, who could not be revived.
