Is it a boy or a girl? The first baby born at Wayne Memorial Hospital in 2009 was a surprise to his parents. Raymond Harrington III and his wife Laurie had chosen not to know their baby’s gender before birth. When little Raymond Vincent Harrington IV arrived in the world, at approximately 5:53a.m. on Jan. 2, his father let out a whoop—“It’s a boy!” When asked if she wanted to announce anything else about the birth of her seven pound, six ounce, 21-inch long bundle of joy, Laurie said simply, “He’s perfect.” Pictured from the left are: Mary Jean Joyal, RN, Wayne Memorial Hospital; Ray Harrington; Lucy Harrington; Laurie Harrington holding baby Raymond.
