MILFORD - A flu vaccine clinic scheduled earlier this month in Honesdale has been pushed back to Tuesday, November 15th. Wayne Memorial’s Home Health Department has to postpone its flu clinics in Wayne and Pike Counties, due to a shipment delay by the manufacturer. Mary Lou Hoffner, RN, Home Health Manager, says the delay took her by surprise and not pleasantly. “I’m concerned, because we were told the vaccine would be in our hands in time for the clinics we scheduled, and changes can cause hardships for seniors and others in need. But they won’t have to go without, we have new dates.” WMH’s Home Health Department administers flu shots in conjunction with the Wayne County and the Pike County Area Agencies on Aging. New dates flu clinics for Pike County are: • Thursday, November 17, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Pike Co. Area Agency on Aging Blooming Grove Center, Route 739, Lords Valley; • Tuesday, December 6, 1-3 p.m., Pike County Medical Center, Route 739, Lords Valley; • Thursday, December 8, 1-3 p.m., Milford WMH Outpatient Centner, 10 Buist Road, Professional Plaza, Milford. The revised dates for flu clinics for Wayne County are: • Tuesday, November 15 9 a.m.-12 noon, Honesdale Area on Aging Center, 323 Tenth St., Honesdale; • Tuesday, November 22, 9 a.m.-12 noon, Hamlin Area Aging Center, Route 590 at Salem Township Building, Hamlin; • Tuesday, November 29, 9 a.m.-12 noon, Hawley Area on Aging Center, Senior Center, VFW Hall at Bingham Park, Hawley; • Thursday, December 1, 1-3:30 p.m., Waymart Pharmacy, Route 6/296, Waymart. Hospital personnel will follow the Centers for Disease Control recommendations for this year’s flu shots, meaning that delivery will be prioritized. Doses will be given to people age 65 or older and people at risk who have a prescription from their physician. No flu shots will be offered at these clinics to children.
