Fuel spill snarls borough traffic

MILFORD — Shortly before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, an 18-wheeler’s fuel tank ruptured, spilling its contents along Milford’s Broad Street. Beginning at the intersection of Broad and Harford streets, the spill spanned the length of one block north to Ann Street, where all traffic flow was redirected by firemen and police officers. A PennDOT sand truck was called immediately after the incident, but crews on the scene waited for about an hour for its arrival. The accident had a small audience, as the Milford library was simultaneously holding its kickoff night for the summer reading programs, outside, adjacent to Broad Street. Emergency officials reported no injuries, but one officer on the scene advised passersby, “Just don’t get near the fuel. It’s slippery.”
