Gas pipeline explosion closes Interstate 84

Milford — PennDOT closed all four lanes of Interstate Highway 84 between Matmoras and Lords Valley for 30 minutes Wednesday afternoon following a gas pipeline explosion near Exit 46 at Milford. A PennDOT spokesperson said the explosion was said to have taken place as the operating utility pressure tested a smaller arterial line. The incident and the closure were reported shortly before 3 p.m. in the afternoon. Initial reports said there was no fire associated with the explosion and no injuries. The rupture was sealed and traffic, which had been detoured to US Route 6 and state Route 739, was allowed to resume.
