Getting a handle on subdivision traffic

DINGMAN n The supervisors last week okayed a zoning change that requires a “traffic impact study” on subdivision expansions that will generate more than 250 “end trips” per day. The number is based on engineering models which set an average of 10.1 end trips for a single family dwelling per day. Studies are expected to identify traffic impacts and likely problems arising from expansions. The change does not affect subdivisions of less than twenty five units. Town Engineer Mike Weeks was asked to recommend implementation standards for subdivisions with already completed traffic studies.
