MILFORD — Recently, Girl Scout Troop 217 made a visit to the Safe Haven’s Office in Milford to learn what Safe Haven is all about. Fourteen girls and their leaders where greeted by our Pet counselors Noah and LLA who enjoyed all the attention they were receiving. Everyone joined Cindy Stine, Educational Outreach Coordinator/Child/teen Advocate Counselor and Linda LaLastarza, Executive Director for a sit down question and answer session. One by One the girls would ask Ms. Stine questions about the agency and the services they provide. The Girl Scouts did not come empty handed. All the girls collected cleaning supplies and created a beautiful basket that they donated to Safe Haven to be used for shelter clients who are moving on and starting their new lives free of violence and full of hope. Safe Haven staff was so touched by their generosity and impressed by their dedication to make our community a better place. Eleanor Roosevelt said, “People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how character is built”. Troop 217 Girl Scouts, who at such a young age are learning that a difference can be made through understanding, compassion, awareness and community involvement.
