Give blood on Day of Caring

    WESTFALL — It is that time of year once again. Sept 8 will mark the fifth annual 9/11 Memorial Blood Drive. The event will be held in the Delaware Valley Middle School gymnasium, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The drive began as a tribute and memorial to those who perished on 9/11. The Pike County Sept. 11 Memorial Blood Drive has quickly become the single most successful blood drive in the history of Pike County. This event is sponsored by United Way of Pike County, in partnership with The American Red Cross, The Delaware Valley School District, Pike County Chamber of Commerce and the Pike County Public Library. How can you participate? If you are 17 years or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health, you can donate! There is no upper age limit. Sept. 8 also is the Day of Caring, when in past years, volunteers for the have gone out to different agencies around the county to help with various projects such as painting, cleaning, filing paperwork, gardening, building and much more. The Day of Caring is a great way for people in the community to directly help human service agencies in Pike County. Register a project or to volunteer for the Day of Caring at the United Way of Pike County is also still looking for agencies to register their projects.
