MILFORD — The Pike County Chamber of Commerce held a Nov. 5 ribbon cutting for the Center for Developmental Disabilities (CDD) of Pike County. CDD is celebrating the opening of their new location at 101 Pocono Drive, Milford, in the PennStar Bank Building. The CDD event also included tours of the new facility and an open house reception. For more than 30 years, CDD has provided educational, therapeutic, behavioral, and family support services for children with developmental delays and disabilities from birth to kindergarten age. Their grass roots response began with Marion Almquist, a nurse and long-time resident of Pike County, who visited families and helped them access information and services. Over the years, the CDD has evolved into a multi-disciplinary program that currently provides services to over 200 families in Pike County. The CDD is the only Department of Public Welfare licensed early care and education center that provides early intervention services in Pike County. For more information about CDD programs, services or their wish list, visit www.cddkids.org or contact Ann Gillerlane, executive director at 570-296-3992.
