Lawrence, left, and his brother, Joseph Ciarelli, are pictured earlier this month picking up roadside debris along Log Tavern Road as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program. They said that along six miles of roadside, they filled 300 trash bags with litter in one day. The statewide annual volunteer cleanup day is April 21. Groups must register their events by April 16 to be eligible for free landfill space to dispose of nonrecyclable wastes collected during the cleanup.
