How do you make a mummy?

SHOHOLA — The gifted students in Mrs. Knuth’s class at Shohola Elementary School are learning about Ancient Egypt. Their first project was an experiment with mummification. The Egyptians mummified a body by removing most of the moisture so that it is difficult for bacteria to grow and cause decay. We used fresh fruit, baking soda, and salt to produce a fruit mummy. The students each had to chose a fruit to bring in and later compared how each one looked and felt.
