MILFORD — Bodies in Balance Fitness Center is partnering with Penn State Cooperative Extension in Milford to help you with your New Year’s resolution of becoming healthier by eliminating tobacco and increasing exercise. Here’s how: Complete Penn State Cooperative Extension’s smoking cessation course and receive a personal training session at Bodies in Balance Fitness Center, 100 Wheatfield Drive in Milford. The cardiovascular benefits of exercise can accelerate the health improvements gained when a smoker quits. According to the U.S. Surgeon General, “Regular exercise slows the aging process. It helps strengthen your heart, lower blood pressure, controls your blood sugar and cholesterol, maintains bone density, and controls your weight.” The American Lung Association states that quitting smoking has proven health benefits. Circulation improves immediately and lung damage begins to repair. In one year, the added risk of heart disease is cut almost in half, and risk of stroke, lung disease, and cancer diminish. Make a resolution for a healthy lifestyle through exercise and tobacco-free living. Contact Penn State Cooperative Extension, 514 Broad Street; call 570-296-3400 for support, nicotine replacement, and fitness. Class begins Jan 9 at 6 p.m.
