It's DVHS Winter Concert weekend
WESTFALL The Delaware Valley High School Music Department will present its annual Concert Choir and Orchestra winter concert at the DVHS auditorium on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. and also on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 3 p.m. The 180-voice concert choir, directed by Gordon Pauling, will perform seasonal and holiday selections including the classic Harry Simeone arrangement of “Little Drummer Boy,” “Alleluia,” a choral fanfare by Linda Spevacek, “Shalom,” a song of Hanukkah, Russian composer Paul Tschesnokoff’s “Salvation is Created,” as well as other selections. The DVHS String and Symphony Orchestras, under the baton of David Swinehart, will perform “Czardas,” by Monti, “Overture to Lucio Silla,” by Mozart, “Concerto in G,” by Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky’s “Trepak,” from “The Nutcracker Suite,” and the Israeli song “Shalom Chavarine.” The concert choir and symphony orchestra, in a combined finale, will perform selections from Carl Orff’s famous cantata, “Carmina Burana,” including the popular chorus, “O Fortuna.” While there is no admission charge to the concert, donations to the DVHS music activity fund will be gladly accepted at the door. Anyone donating at the door will be eligible for a door prize that will be awarded at the conclusion of Sunday’s concert.
