Learning from the Japanese

Delaware Valley High School instructor Larry Marcial is pictured during his “Reflections of Japan” program given at the Nov. 8, board of education meeting. Marcial traveled to Japan on a Toyota-funded, Fullbright Scholarship for two weeks last summer. Already interested in the culture and the martial arts, Marcial detailed how what he learned will impact his teaching. Marcial conducts a martial arts program for students in the high school and has taught staff members passive restraint techniques which he said could defuse “possibly explosive situations.” (Photo by David Hulse)
