Library gets revitalization grant

MILFORD The Building Task Force of the Pike County Public Library last Friday announced the receipt of a $10,000 Community Revitalization Assistance Program grant from Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development. The task force is charged with the development, design, and construction of a new central library in Milford. These discretionary funds, obtained with the support of 139th District State Representative Mike Peifer, are intended to support design refinement and the construction permitting process during the pre-building stage. “Funds for pre-construction costs,” Maleyne Syracuse, Chair of the Building Task Force, explained, “are often difficult to find; as monies budgeted for capital construction cannot be used for these smaller but essential items. “These development grants are a wonderful way for local legislators to assist community projects at critical junctures. We are grateful for Representative Peifer’s support and salute his vision for the future of Milford. Thanks are also due to the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for their foresight in providing these types of grants to worthy projects.”
