Library topped concerns on last pre-election Sunday

MILFORD Opponents and supporters of the proposed library tax showed their pre-election colors on Sunday. A “Vote no” group of protesters launched their campaign in front of the Court House on Broad Street. About 25 picket sign-carrying people walked the sidewalk and street holding up their “vote no” signs, prompting passing motorists to blow their horns in support. “I work with a lot of senior citizens who live on fixed incomes. Oftentimes they have to choose between purchasing their medications or food. This is not the right time to add another tax to their burden. ” said Lynn Homer. She said the Delaware Valley Schools open their doors on Wednesday afternoons to the public to use their computers and their resources. “The Library Board should have members that live in the towns being affected by the tax. Some of them don’t even live in Pike County.” stated Tom Pallozzi-Haynes. At the Milford Library, the “Vote Yes” group assembled to try enlist support for the proposed tax. “The library is great and we need to make it even better. I hope the library tax wins on Tuesday,” said Amy Jesaitis. Jesaitis went on to say kids need a place to go that has the resources they need. “We believe in the future of Pike County and it needs a vibrant library system that grows with it,” stated Michael Adamcik. Investing in the library is investing in the future, said Adamcik.
