— Allstate Insurance agent Alan Turken has received the Agency Hands in the Community Award, which comes with a $1,000 grant for The Hudson Valley Boy Scout Council, where Turken volunteers.

"Alan is an active and respected member of the business community, protecting customers with insurance and financial services products," said Don Rubbo, New York regional sales leader at Allstate Insurance Company. "He also makes it a priority to dedicate his time and efforts to make a difference in people's lives. Alan exemplifies the full spectrum of what it means to be an Allstate agent and has truly become a name and face in his community."

The money was granted by The Allstate Foundation.

The Hudson Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America, serves more than 9,500 young people through Scouting and Learning for Life Programs in the New York Counties of Dutchess, Rockland, Orange, and Sullivan, and Pike County in Pennsylvania. The council's mission is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

Turken's office is at 50 Carpenter St. in Middletown.
