ASPCA: Dogs can lose scent in the snow and get lost

NEW YORK (AP) — The ASPCA says it's extra-important to keep your dog leashed during walks in the snow.
The animal-welfare group said that snow and ice can cause dogs to lose the scent that helps them identify their surroundings.
It says more dogs are lost during the winter than during any other season.
As added insurance, make sure your dog always wears an ID tag. The ASPCA also recommends microchipping pets.
