DINGMAN TOWNSHIP — Chair Thomas Mincer waved Dingman's 2016 budget at the Nov. 17 supervisors' meeting.
“Now for what everyone here has come for," he said with a flourish. "This is the 2016 budget. There is no tax increase in the proposed budget for 2016.”
The millage rate for Dingman Townships remains 6, and fire tax 1.5 in the proposed budget.
Mincer thanked Secretary/Treasurer Karen Kleist for working hard on the budget.
“We’re happy that we were able to hold the budget millage," he said.
“This is the final unless should anything change between now and then,” Kleist said, and others agreed. The proposed budget will be advertised as usual.
In other businessTime capsule — Supervisors agreed to the National Park Service's request that the township contribute material to a time capsule, which will be opened on the 100th anniversary of the Delaware Water Gap National Recreational Area, in 2065.
EMS report — Although fire alarms caused the most calls for first responders in Dingman, fire Chief Mark O'Brien said, “None of the fire alarms amounted to anything. They were due mostly to cleaning ovens and culinary ignorance.” He also reported the department continues extensive training, with 11 members certified at national level now. The department works well with Atlantic Ambulances that work in the area who have been “tremendous help.” Members also keep going to schools to educate kids and participated in a “Trunk or treat” with 150 children in Gold Key.
