Dispositions in Pike County Court

Milford. Pike County District Attorney Raymond J. Tonkin announced the following criminal sentences issued the week of April 12 by Pike County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Gregory Chelak.

Julian Aguila, 27, of Tobyhanna, Pa., was sentenced to 6 months of probation and fined $300 for the crime of Disorderly Conduct. Aguila engaged in a fight with another inmate in the holding cell of the Pike County Courthouse, disrupting the court proceedings, on March 5, 2020.

Gilson Llisio Sanches, 36, of Scranton, Pa., was sentenced to 6 months of probation and fined $300 for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. The state police observed Sanches driving in a dangerous manner along I-84 in Greene Township on Jan. 18, 2020. When the trooper approached the vehicle, he detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage and observed Sanches to have bloodshot eyes. Sanches admitted to drinking prior to driving. A breath test was conducted which revealed a blood-alcohol content of 0.087%.

Eric Arthur Peoples, 29, of Matamoras, Pa., was sentenced to 5 months to 23 months in the Pike County Jail and a fine of $300 for the crime of Receiving Stolen Property. Peoples intentionally retained an ATV having a value in excess of $2,000 at his residence in Westfall Township on March 30, 2019, knowing that it had been stolen from an individual.

Jarod King, 39, of Williamsport, Pa., was sentenced to 7 months to 23 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $600 for the crimes of Recklessly Endangering Another Person and Simple Assault. On March 22, 2018, the state police responded to Overlook Drive, where King struck an individual with his vehicle, causing injury.

James N. Scebes, 48, of Saylorsburg, Pa., was sentenced to 12 months of probation and fined $300 for the crime of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. On Feb. 22, 2019, the state police responded to a location in Lehman Township, where Scebes was acting in a suspicious manner. A consent to search revealed drug paraphernalia, including tin foil and tweezers.

Ashley Marie Purcell, 27, of Milford, Pa., was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000, and had her driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol or a Controlled Substance. Purcell drove her vehicle into a building at the corner of Harford and Broad Street in Milford on July 6, 2020. When contact was made with Purcell, she admitted to drinking alcohol prior to driving. Purcell was observed to have slurred speech and glossy, bloodshot eyes. Field sobriety tests could not be administered due to injuries. A blood test confirmed a blood-alcohol content of 0.256%.

Peter Allen Sorochinski, 23, of Costa Mesa, Calif., was sentenced to 90 days to 5 years in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,500, and had his driver’s licenses suspended for 18 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance. The state police were dispatched to the I-84 ramp in Blooming Grove Township, where Sorochinski was in control of a vehicle. Sorochinski admitted to the troopers that he had ingested controlled substances earlier. A blood test confirmed the presence of methamphetamine and amphetamine in his blood.

Mickey Joe Pegg, 54, of Lords Valley, Pa., was sentenced to 48 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $500, and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. On June 15, 2020, the state police were dispatched to SR 739 in Blooming Grove Township, where Pegg had reportedly hit a pothole and crashed his motorcycle. Pegg admitted to the trooper that he had consumed two alcoholic beverages earlier. A blood draw confirmed a blood-alcohol content of 0.130%.

Patrice Clinton, 38, of Lake Ariel, Pa., was sentenced to 12 months of probation and fined $300 for the crime of Prostitution and Related Offenses. Clinton engaged in prostitution for United States currency at a building in Blooming Grove Township from Aug. 13, 2018, through June 18, 2019, which was under investigation by members of the Intelligence Unit of the State Police.

Alec Thomas Marushak, 25, of Greentown, Pa., was sentenced to 11 months to 23 months in the Pike County Jail and fined $500 for the crime of Receiving Stolen Property. Marushak was stopped on Aug. 16, 2020, by the state police while traveling along SR 507 in Greene Township for an inoperative tail light on a motorcycle. Further investigation revealed the motorcycle was stolen.

Crystal Lee Presto, 30, presently housed in the Pike County Jail, was sentenced to 12 months to 24 months in a state correctional facility and fined $800 for the crimes of Retail Theft and Defiant Trespass. Presto took video games with a total value of $318.88 from a retail store in Westfall Township on Sept. 17, 2020, after being advised by the Honorable Gregory H. Chelak on Oct. 17, 2019, that she was not allowed to enter the retail store again.

Ethan W. Thompson, 52, of Milford, Pa., was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months of the Pike Care Program which will include 93 days of house arrest, a fine of $2,800 and driver’s license suspension of 30 months for 3 counts of the crime of Driving Under the Influence. Thompson was involved in a vehicle crash at the corner of Broad and Harford Street in Milford on Oct. 17, 2019. A blood test confirmed a blood-alcohol content of .208%. On Aug. 27, 2019, Thompson drove into a business parking lot in Blooming Grove Township and acted in a tumultuous behavior towards some patrons. When contact was made with Thompson, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage. Thompson admitted to drinking but refused a breath test.

Matthew Angel Medina, 25, of Bushkill, Pa., was sentenced to 72 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $1,000, and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance. Median was stopped on May 31, 2019, by the state police along Bushkill Falls Road in Lehman Township. The trooper detected the smell of marijuana. Field sobriety tests showed impairment, and a blood test confirmed the presence of THC in his blood.

Andrew Earl Gleiss, 66, of Hawley, Pa., was sentenced to 48 hours to 6 months in the Pike County Jail, fined $500, and had his driver’s license suspended for 12 months for the crime of Driving Under the Influence. On Jan. 12, 2020, the state police were dispatched to SR 739 in Blooming Grove Township, where Gleiss was observed driving erratically. When contact was made with Gleiss, the trooper detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage. Gleiss admitted to drinking prior to driving. Field sobriety tests showed impairment, and a breath test confirmed a blood-alcohol content of 0.134%.
