Eighth-graders gain insight into a range of careers

— Eighth-graders at Delaware Valley Middle School had a chance to learn about some exciting careers from people in their community.
Career Day, held on Oct. 10, was planned and directed by Kim Palko, seventh- and eighth-grade school counselor for the middle school.
After students provided their areas of interest, they attended small group sessions with career speakers. Twenty-two presenters were invited to attend at the students' request.

The presenters offered an overview of their careers and offered unique personal experiences. Students got a multifaceted view of several careers. They learned the practical aspects of education and preparation for a career, the personal commitment required, and the rewards and satisfactions these occupations offer.
