Farmers market is back this Sunday

— The Milford Farmers Market will awaken from its winter slumber this Sunday, May 29, when it holds the first of many markets that will extend right through the pumpkin harvest.
Singer/songwriter Sara Hulse will perform on opening day. She plays ukulele with folk, bluegrass, rock, indie and reggae influences.
New this year is a wellness table, which each week will spotlight free health-related activities like yoga, acupuncture, and homeopathic medicine.
The environmental non-profit Air Soil Water hosts the market, to be held rain or shine from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday through Oct. 16 at The Grotto, 508 West Harford Street in Milford. This season will include more vendors than ever before, each vetted by the Air Soil Water team (see sidebar for list).
All of the offerings are fresh, hand picked, home made — nothing industrial — and changing with the seasons. A wide assortment of produce, meats, breads, bakery goods, jams, and personal products will be on hand.
“Our goal is to make this a real 'scene' for good times, as well as good food," said Jolie DeFeis of Air Soil Water. "We plan to expand our musical offerings as the Milford Farmers Market becomes better known to the spending public looking for some fun on Sunday afternoons."
Adam Haygood, owner of The Grotto Restaurant, said, “We are excited to have Air Soil Water host their Farmers Market at The Grotto Restaurant again. We have ample space and happy to share for a great community effort.”
The Grotto will offer a changing menu made with local ingredients.
