Free patriotic concert for veterans as Wildflower season begins

WHITE MILLS — The Wildflower Music Festival begins its 2015 season with The Patriot Brass Ensemble and an evening titled “In Celebration of Independence Day,” at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 4 on the grounds of the beautiful Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary in White Mills.

The 15-piece brass band will feature special guest conductor Jari Villanueva. It's the only professional and national organization dedicated to serving veterans and military families by donating their time as a nonprofit charity giving performances at a wide range of veterans’ organizations, events, and hospitals. All current-duty service personnel and veterans with ID will be admitted to this concert free of charge.

General admission tickets are $22; students 6 to 18 years are $11. There is no charge for children under six.

Tickets may be purchased online at wildflowermusic.org, by calling 570-253-5500, or at the gate day of the show beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and pack a picnic and beverages

Upcoming concerts in the Wildflower concert series include: Dali String Quartet, Swingtime Big Band, Incendio, Jimmy Webb: The Glen Campbell Years ($29), The Boxcars, and Ann Hampton Callaway.

In the event of inclement weather, the performance will be held at the air-conditioned auditorium at the Wallenpaupack Area High School.
