— Belle Reve Senior Living Center was recently host to a Pike County 4-H "get acquainted" social for 4-H families and friends.
Newcomers, bearing food pantry donations, came to learn about 4-H program. They also made holiday greeting cards and hand-delivered them to every Belle Reve resident. One lucky resident received a hand-knitted lap comforter made by members of the 4-H Knitting Kids Club.
The 4-H leaders — Susan Ridyard, Bernadette Guerra, Russell Boronow, Kaitlin Conrad, Jack de Geus and Doreen Santiago, representing clubs for photography, horsemanship, archery, knitting, and sewing projects — provided interactive fun and welcomed new members to their clubs.
The 4-H is the youth development program of Penn State Extension, for children ages 5 to 18. 4-H enables kids to have fun, meet new people, build self-confidence and learn by doing. Adult mentors are screened and trained to work with young people. 4-H offers involvement in the following program areas: STEM and Agriculture, Healthy Living and Citizenship.
