— The Greater Pike Community Foundation has announced those to be honored at its third annual award reception this fall.
Every year, the foundation recognizes local philanthropists, businesses, and organizations for their commitment to our community. The event this year will be held at High Point Banquet and Event Center in Montague, N.J., on Wednesday, Oct. 5.
The honorees, and the foundation's reasons for choosing them, are as follows:

Art and Jane Ridley

The Barbara J. Buchanan Community Service Award recognizes Pike County residents who exemplify the spirit of “giving back.” Art and Jane Ridley were chosen because of their extraordinary record of public service and philanthropic support. In addition to the recognition, the Ridleys will receive a $1,000 grant for them to donate to the charitable endeavor of their choice.

Center for Developmental Disabilities

The Not-for-Profit Award recognizes non-profit organizational excellence. For more than 40 years, the Center for Developmental Disabilities of Pike County has provided educational, therapeutic, behavioral and family support services for children with developmental delays and disabilities.

Kittatinny Canoes

The Richard L. Snyder Excellence in Business Award recognizes businesses that foster environmental and economic growth in our community. For the past 25 years Kittatinny Canoe, led by Ruth Jones, has supported an annual on-and-under-the-river cleanup that since its inception has recruited more than 9,000 volunteers, removed more than 450 tons of debris from the Delaware River and raised awareness of the importance of stewardship of our natural environment. Ruth Jones will also receive a $1,000 grant to donate to the charitable endeavor of her choice.
The Greater Pike Community Foundation was established to provide a personal and permanent way for donors to support the region, enabling individuals, families and local businesses to maximize their charitable support through organized, targeted community philanthropy. “For Good, Forever” is the simple purpose of the Greater Pike Community Foundation.
