Habitat for Humanity of Pike County is now accepting applications for partner home
Dingmans Ferry. Habitat uses volunteer workers to keep the cost of the construction as low as possible. The partner homeowner is then responsible for repaying a 30-year, interest-free mortgage loan that encompasses only the subcontracted costs and material costs.
Habitat for Humanity of Pike County is currently accepting mortgage applications for its partner home #32.
The application deadline is May 31. Applications will be reviewed beginning June 1, and a decision will be announced after June 30.
The nonprofit organization is an ecumenical, Christian ministry for Pike County residents.
Since 1996, Habitat for Humanity of Pike County has been providing individuals and families an opportunity to purchase a decent, affordable home. Habitat also offers zero percent mortgages, which cover most building costs, with labor primarily provided through volunteer hours and the work of the future homeowners themselves, all led by knowledgeable and experienced building coordinators.
The eligibility requirements are as follows:
● You must currently be and have been residing or working in Pike County for a period of no less than one year.
● You must demonstrate a need for housing.
● You must agree to partner with us by performing a minimum of 200 hours sweat equity towards the building of your home or other related tasks.
● You must have a total household gross income that falls within the range of 30 percent to 80 percent of the local median income (Pike County’s median income for 2019 is $63,417), with some adjustments for large families.
● You must have the ability to pay a monthly mortgage and escrow payment.
Habitat uses volunteer workers in building homes to keep the cost of the construction as low as possible. The partner homeowner is then responsible for repaying a 30-year, interest-free mortgage loan that encompasses only the subcontracted costs and material costs.
Monthly mortgage payments are placed in the revolving Fund for Humanity to finance additional houses and ramps.
