Hawley to host Winterfest

| 05 Dec 2016 | 03:12

— The Victorian-themed Hawley Winterfest, from Dec. 9 to 11, offers music, theater, art exhibit — and lots of shopping.
The tree in the Bingham Park Bandstand is alight as Hawley’s homeowners, innkeepers, and shopkeepers display their decorative finery and wares.
On Saturday is the "Cookie Walk," from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church on Church Street, with more than 5,000 handmade gourmet cookies and candies for sale.
Hawley Silk Mill, along Route 6 is the world’s largest bluestone building and once a thriving silk mill. It’s now filled with shops, boutiques and galleries. On Saturday and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Art on the Edge is hosting its annual holiday fair, with many regional artists showcasing their artwork and crafts.
Free Winterfest shuttles will loop through town and up to the Hawley Silk Mill on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., allowing visitors to park their car once and take the shuttle to all of the activities. The shuttle will come by each stop about every 10 to 15 minutes. The places are listed in the Winterfest brochure, available at the Lake Wallenpaupack Visitors Center and local shops.
See sidebar for more participating businesses.
Hawley Winterfest is presented by the Downtown Hawley Partnership, a non-profit organization. The event is made possible through the contribution of local sponsors, donations, volunteers, participating residents and merchants, and the 2016 Winterfest Committee.
