Here's what to expect when visiting the park this winter

— In winter, the National Park Service closes some visitor use sites and roads in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
“Plowing and treating the main roads through the park is a top priority when we have snow and ice,” said John Lambert, Chief of Maintenance at the park. "Secondary roads, administrative buildings, and visitor use sites will be plowed after the main roads have been cleared and are safe for travel."
The following locations will remain open through the winter but may not be cleared of snow and ice immediately following a storm:
River Road
Bushkill Access
Smithfield Beach
Point of Gap Overlook
Milford Beach
In New Jersey:
Blue Mountain Lakes
Millbrook Village
The McDade Recreational Trail will be accessible from Smithfield Beach, Milford Beach, Park Headquarters, and Bushkill Access.
Sites that will be closed for winter in early January or at the first significant snowfall, whichever comes first, include:
Eshback Access
Dingmans Access
Hialeah Picnic Area
George W. Childs Park
Dingmans Falls Visitor Center (main parking lot and restrooms)
Resort Point Overlook
Raymondskill Falls
In New Jersey:
Poxono Boat Launch
Turtle Beach
Mountain Road
Van Campen Inn
Watergate and Namanock Recreation Sites
Old Mine Road south of Van Campen Inn (dirt section)
Main parking lot and restrooms at Kittatinny Point
The sites that will be closed through the winter were selected based on factors including water supply systems that require winterization, reduced custodial staff, and other priorities for snow and ice removal.
