High schoolers win journalism awards

Milford. Several students won for their writing, photography, and layout work.

Delaware Valley High School recently applauded several student staff members of the school newspaper Del.Aware who won awards in the Pennsylvania Press Club, an affiliate of the National Federation of Press Women, for its 2024 High School Journalism Contest

Senior Michael Helt won honorable mention for news story writing. Senior Roxy Cauchi won first place for the news or feature photo category. Senior Francesca Antonecchia won first place for sports photo and third place for single page layout. Senior Cassandra Joyce won honorable mention for sports photo. Senior Kaylee Kurcon won honorable mention for single page layout. Senior Hazel Buro won second place for a double truck layout.

According to the school district, the contest received 169 entries. First-place winning entries will be sent into the national organization which arranges for another round of judging from other state affiliates. The Pennsylvania Press Club plans to honor all state winners with a luncheon in Hershey this June.
