Honoring Milford Vets

MILFORD — Three Milford men will be among the US military veterans who will be flying to Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Oct. 10, in appreciation of their service.
They are Blaze "Bud" Catalano, who served in WWII and the Korean War as a petty officer 2nd class in the US Navy; Delbert "Curly" Engle, who served in WWII and the Korean War and is veteran of both the US Army the Coast Guard; and Carmine Loiacono, a Korean War who served in the US Navy as OM3 class. Hudson Valley Honor Flight arranges one-day, all-expense-paid journeys for veterans that include visits to the World War II and Iwo Jima Memorial, as well as attendance at the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery’s Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Hudson Valley Honor Flight organizes celebrations at the morning send-off and home-coming, gathering volunteers from the area to cheer the veterans and thank them for their service to the nation.
The local heroes will be leaving from Newburgh's Stewart International Airport. The pre-flight ceremony begins at 7:45 a.m A welcome-home reception will start at approximately 8:45 p.m.
