Laurel Villa Country Inn & Restaurant Re-Opens

Laurel Villa Country Inn & Restaurant has returned after a three-year hiatus.

Innkeeper Janice Halsted and Chef Carl Muhlhauser had turned the Laurel Villa, located at Second and Ann Streets, over to new owner Ken Pisciotta, who re-named it River Rock Inn. However, it closed last winter.

“We never expected to be back in business,” said Halsted, “but the Laurel Villa has been part of the Milford dining scene for over a century, and we wanted it to continue.”

Through the winter and spring the couple have been busy giving the historic inn a new look. Many rooms were re-painted, floors and carpeting were replaced, and the bar was remodeled.

Menu items include schnitzel, Mussels au Gratin and soft shell crab, mushroom bisque, and a variety of new appetizers and entrees created especially for the re-opening. On Thursday nights, the Laurel Villa also offers a selection of hamburgers and paninis.

The Laurel Villa is open for dinner Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights starting at 5 p.m.
