'Little Free Library' phenomenon comes to Pike

MILFORD — Little Free Libraries are a global phenomenon. The small, front‐yard book exchanges number 36,000 around the world in 70 countries, from Iceland to Tasmania to Pakistan.
Now, a new Little Free Library in Ann Street Park in Milford will join the movement to share books, bring people together, and create communities of readers. The idea is to “take a book, leave a book,” for anyone and everyone to enjoy.
This particular Little Free Library was donated by Pike County Public Library board member Centa Quinn and installed by volunteers Barbara and Rocco Zappile and library director Rose Chiocchi. Children who participated in the library’s summer reading program, titled “Build a Better World,” lent a hand by painting and decorating the wooden box that houses the free books.
“Our Little Free Library doesn’t just belong to library patrons, it’s for everyone who lives in the nearby area or visits our special town," said Chiocchi. "We can’t wait to see more throughout the county. It’s our hope that this Little Free Library will bring a little more joy, a little more connection and a whole lot more books to our community.”
