Pennies From Heaven Caleb’s Foundation raised more than $51,000 at their 6th annual Tricky Tray fundraiser held on April 26 at Ehrhardt’s Waterfront Restaurant.

There were 200 themed baskets raffled off due to the generosity of family, friends, local businesses and the community as a whole. All money raised will go towards helping families who have a critically ill child fighting for their life.

Help comes by way of rent and mortgage payments, electric and medical bills, other utility bills and more. More than 350 families have been financially assisted in five years.

“This was our busiest and most successful Tricky Tray to date; Ehrhardt’s was packed," said Caleb’s mom, Nichole Granville. "I was blown away by the amazing turnout we had and I’m extremely grateful to everyone who supported our event. More than 400 people donated items or made monetary donations, and the amount of volunteers who lent a hand before, during and after the tricky tray was amazing. Our combined total for the weekend including our golf outing was $58,000, which is $8,000 more than we raised last year. The community has always been such an integral part of our success and this year was no exception. I am truly humbled by the generosity of others. Please accept my heart felt gratitude for your continued support in all we do.”

Pennies From Heaven was started in loving memory of Caleb, a 2 year old boy with an amazing spirit and energy for life that was unmatched. On Feb. 25 2007, Caleb was granted his angel wings after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

“Caleb’s Foundation began as a support system for parents with a sick child," said Granville. "Our mission has been the same since day one and that is to help parents by relieving the stress of financial burdens at home. We hope to be able to do this for many years to come.”

Next year’s Tricky Tray is set for Sunday, May 1.
