Pocono hospital merges with Lehigh Valley Health Network

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pocono Health System was absorbed by the Lehigh Valley Health Network in a merger that took effect on Jan. 1
The health systems received regulatory approval to merge in late December. The merger was announced in May 2015.
Pocono Medical Center will become Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono.
The Pocono Health System's president and chief executive, Jeff Snyder, will step down. Elizabeth Wise, the current chief operating officer, will become acting president. Pocono Medical Center said in mid-December that it planned to lay off 61 registered nurses.
